Remodeling or renovating your home is one of the best investments many people make in their lifetime, and for so many great reasons.

Updating your bathroom to suit your needs can be life-changing, especially if you have a limited amount of space in your bath. How many times have you and yours been brushing your teeth at the same time and both of you needed to spit? Or you were getting ready for a night out on the town, using the vanity for its main purpose: makeup, curling iron, and of course to check your outfit, sorely wishing you both had separate surfaces to use in order to prepare for the night.

If you have a smaller bath, you have all the more reason to consider remodeling because of how much potential you can unlock in a few super-effective ways:

1. Add more light. Additional lighting helps any space feel larger, our favorite is adding lighting to the ceiling and not just the vanity. Imagine an antique chandelier fitting nicely above the center of your bath. Adding intrigue while also illuminating the room, giving it a much larger feel.

2. Built-in shelves are an efficient and elegant way to store toiletries, and towels without taking up counter space or forcing you to rummage through a drawer to find what you need.

Built-ins are a win-win!

Especially if you get little glass jars to keep your q-tips and cotton balls/rounds organized.

3. Mirrors. Everywhere. Well, not necessarily everywhere. It is certainly possible to overdo it. However, choosing the correct mirror for your vanity (now double vanity perhaps) can not only be a statement piece, but a space creating illusion piece as well. Depending on the bathroom, a chrome or mirrored vanity could also be perfect for fostering a more spacious feel to the room.

4.Tile, white tile. Light colored tile in a smaller bathroom, particularly the shower, can have a wonderful, size creating effect. Adding a dark colored grout such as gray is a great way to make your new tile pop while maintaining the spacious sense the light tile initially provides.

5. Install glass doors and barn doors. This will maximize your living space and increase your quality of life. Both of these doors are great for maximizing space in smaller bathrooms when remodeling. A sliding barn door allows you have whatever furniture you want in either room because it doesn’t require the real estate to swing about. A glass shower enclosure (glass door)  is great for making a smaller bathroom like this feel much larger by letting incoming light from the fixtures into the bath compared to a curtain that would make for a pretty gloomy shower. A glass shower enclosure also adds a significant amount of depth to any bath.

6.Lastly, installing a double vanity or a floating vessel sink will give your vanity the depth and luxurious appearance it deserves.

Luxury Bonus Tip:

iIf you are feeling extra fancy, installing a heated tile floor that is controlled digitally is perhaps the most comfort oriented improvement there is. No more cold floors shocking your feet in the winter while stepping out of the shower or walking about your bathroom.
